Cubeb Pepper from Indonesia – From Purworejo, Java
Cubeb, known as kemukus in Indonesia, is a rare and ancient spice that is now sought after for the complexity of its aromatic profile. At Kawanga, we’ve chosen a unique selection, without compromising on quality.
Our cubeb comes from the region of Purworejo, in central Java, where it is grown using traditional methods. The berries are harvested at full ripeness and then dried in a greenhouse, a carefully controlled process that regulates humidity, prevents unwanted fermentation, and preserves the integrity of the essential oils. This drying method guarantees consistent and superior aromatic quality.
A bold, refined spice with controlled intensity and a long finish.
